First aid for a vet emergency

A vet emergency can occur when you’re least expecting it. From burns to cuts and bites, you may need to give your pet first aid before going to the emergency vet. When you call VET&GO we’ll advise you if we think you need to do administer emergency first aid.

Vet emergency

Having a pet first aid kit at home could save your pet’s life in a veterinary emergency. It should include:

  • Latex gloves
  • Tweezers
  • Sterile water
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Betadine
  • A large towel or blanket
  • Gauze and bandages
  • Scissors
  • Cotton wool
  • Medical tape
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Antibiotic ointment

Remember to include copies of your pet’s medical records in your pet first aid kit. It’s also a good idea to keep a kit in the car.
